About the area
Named for the Governor's own meadow
Northmead is home to around 11,300 residents, about 26km west of Sydney CBD in the City of Parramatta. Its name comes from history right at the centre of the colony: the suburb was once the north "mead," or meadow, of the Governor's own domain in Parramatta, the same estate that today survives as Parramatta Park.
Northmead once had its own railway too. The Rogans Hill line ran through the suburb from 1923, connecting Westmead to Castle Hill and on to Rogans Hill, before it was decommissioned in 1932 in favour of motor buses. No train line has served Northmead since.
From here it's about 7km / 14 min drive (est.) to Crestwood High School's oval in Baulkham Hills, where Football Collective trains.
